Albert D. Swain

Albert D Swain, a retired police officer for NYC Transit in Manhattan, NY, and veteran of the United States Navy, has passed away on December 6, 2023, at the age of 83. Born on March 12, 1940, in Franklin Square, NY, Albert was known for his unwavering commitment and service to his community.

Albert served his country as a proud member of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. His military service further instilled in him the values of courage, loyalty, and selflessness.  He then committed his life to serving the people as a NYC transit police officer for many years.  His dedication and compassion were boundless. 

Outside of his professional life, Albert cherished spending time with his beloved family. He was a devoted father to Kris (Jacqueline) Swain and Hope (Scott) Van Nostrand. Albert's children brought immense joy to his life, and he took great pride in their accomplishments. He was also a doting grandfather to Anthony, Hailey, Victoria, Amanda, Gianna, Madison, Dominic, and Sophia. His grandchildren were a source of endless love and happiness for him.

A visitation service will be held on December 10, 2023 at Mangano Family Funeral Home Of Middle Island in Middle Island, NY. The first session will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM followed by another session from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. On the same day, a prayer service will be held from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The burial service will take place on December 11, 2023 at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, NY. 

Albert will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kind and compassionate nature touched many lives and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.  May the memories of their cherished times together bring comfort and solace. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that he made a lasting impact on the lives of those he touched through his selfless service as a veteran and police officer, and his unwavering love as a father and grandfather.
