Babette H. Nicosia

August 13, 1961 — December 11, 2024

North Merrick, New York

It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Babette Nicosia.

Born to parents Arthur and Nanette, Babette was the youngest of four and growing up had a special relationship with each of her sisters.

As a stenographer in the North Merrick School District, Babette was extremely proud of her 25+ years of service and had an immeasurable impact on the parents and students she interacted with. Babette was also an active member of the CSEA union, both as President of her unit and a member of the Women’s Committee.

An animal lover to her core, Babette was the proud Mama to cats, Pickles and Newman, as well as caretaker of the various neighborhood cats who visited. But nothing brought Babette greater joy than her family. Loved by her husband, Don, for 37 years, together they enjoyed good meals, great trips, and making their home a welcoming second home for their new grandson. Babette’s love for her daughter, Brittany, knew no bounds. Whether shopping, traveling, or enjoying a glass of rosé, their bond was unparalleled and they shared a relationship which was so much more than mother and daughter. Babette’s pride and joy was her 11 month old grandson, Grayson. If it is possible to share inside jokes with an infant, she did, and the immense love she had for Grayson was reciprocated tenfold. Along with her husband, daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Babette is survived by her sisters Annette, Jo-Anne, and Juliette, her nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

It is Babette’s strength, kindness, humor, and joy that will be most remembered and live on through her daughter and grandson. She will be missed desperately every day.
