Brian Douglas Mayo

Brian D. Mayo 9/15/1957 – 7/29/2023

Brian Douglas Mayo died on July 29, 2023 at the age of 65, at his family home in Riverhead, NY.  He graduated from Riverhead High School in 1975.  He was the youngest child of Grant and Maude Mayo (nee Brown) of Riverhead, NY. Brian worked at Brookhaven Labs for over 45 years and retired this February as a Storeskeeper in the Shipping & Receiving Department.  An avid sports fan, he enjoyed baseball, football, NASCAR races, and building Lego hobby sets. He is survived by his sister Linda Mayo-Perez Williams (James) and his two brothers: Michael Mayo and Roy Lucas (Karen). He leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his lifelong friend and neighbor, Michael Mason. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a future date in Riverhead, NY followed by an interment at Maple Grove Cemetery in Kew Gardens, NY.  In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial donation in Brian’s name to Cohen Children’s Medical Center on Long Island or to the NASCAR Foundation.
