Carl W. Meinardus, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, in West Babylon, NY, at the age of 85. Born on July 13, 1939, in Floral Park, Carl’s journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
Carl devoted over 35 years of his career as a Controller for a law firm in Manhattan. His work ethic and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. But it was not just his professional endeavors that defined Carl; he was a devoted family man. Originally residing in Brooklyn, he later moved to Copiague, where he and his beloved wife Diane raised their family. They were married over 60 beautiful years, and their journey continued as they retired in Sun City, Florida, where Carl was actively involved in community activities and forged lasting friendships.
Carl was known for his kindness and warmth, a trait that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He is survived by his loving daughter Linda and her husband Scott and his cherished son Michael C. and his wife Lisa. He was a proud grandfather to Michael (Samantha), Brianna (Robert), Kristina, Alycia (Jarett), Jordan, Jake, and James (Madisen), and enjoyed the joyful company of his great-grandchildren: Michael, Gabriella, and Atlas. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane L. Meinardus, and his dear parents, Gustav and Margaret Meinardus.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Carl's life during visitation at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY, on March 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church, located at 455 Hunter Avenue, West Islip, NY, on March 24, 2025, at 9:30 AM. Following the funeral mass, family and friends will proceed to Oakwood Cemetery in Bay Shore, where Carl will be laid to rest.
Carl W. Meinardus will be fondly remembered for his loving spirit, benevolence, and the indelible mark he left on those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love and community engagement will undoubtedly live on through his family and all the lives he touched.
