Carmelo "Mal" J. Cotrone

July 28, 1927 — August 17, 2024

Deer Park, New York

Carmelo J. Cotrone, known as "Mal," a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, at the age of 97. Born on July 28, 1927, in New York, New York to his parents Domenico and Domenica, Carmelo lived a life rich in love and family values, which will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Carmelo’s career as a machinist in Brentwood, NY, was marked not just by his skilled hands but also by his unwavering dedication to his craft and his family. He earned a Bachelor’s degree, laying the foundation for a life of hard work and perseverance, embodying the meaning of commitment and resilience.

His love for his family was paramount; no one held a more special place in his heart than his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Carmelo adored his children—Camille (her husband Kevin Coyne), Don (his wife Louise Cotrone), and Paul (his wife Sheila Cotrone). Their bonds were strengthened by countless memories, filled with laughter and love. As a doting grandfather to nine grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren, Carmelo's spirit will live on through their fond recollections of his warm laughter and caring heart.

He was preceded in death by his late mother Domenica, late father Domenico, and late wife Isabel Cotrone, who he held dearly in his heart. The memory of his loved ones now joined with him creates an everlasting legacy that will be honored by those who remain.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will take place on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Pk Ave, Deer Park, NY.
