Charles F. Huber, Jr.

July 11, 1930 — May 24, 2020

Charles F Huber, Jr., 89, (Charlie) from North Babylon, N.Y. passed away on May 24th, 2020. Born
in Baldwin, NY to the late Charles F. and Genevieve (Graham) Huber, Sr.
Charlie served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1950-’52.
He retired from the Long Island Lighting Company in 1989, where he worked for 38 years, started as a mapper and ending his extraordinary tenure as LILCO’s Employee Counselor. While working at LILCO, he
earned his BS in Business Administration from Hofstra University.
Charlie was an active member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church in Deer Park, NY. Starting as an usher
more than 60 yrs ago, he progressed to become an Extraordinary Minister until his Ordination into one
of the very first classes of the Roman Catholic Diaconate Ministry on May 31, 1980 where for the next 34
yrs. Deacon Charlie presided over countless weddings, baptisms and funerals as well as administering
sacraments, guidance and prayers in fulfillment of his commitment to service. Additionally, Deacon
Charlie partnered with his wife Peggy in Bereavement Counseling and Pre-Cana.
Deacon Charlie also worked in a non secular capacity for both Sts. Cyril’s and Blessed Sacrament Church
of Valley Steam as an administrator for over 20 yrs post retirement.
Deacon Charlie was a dedicated Chaplain in the North Babylon Volunteer Fire Department for more than
20 years and in 2013 was bestowed with a Lifetime Membership. He remained as Chaplain and member in
good standing in the Fire Chiefs Assn. until his retirement in 2016.
Faithful husband to the love of his life, the late Margaret (Peggy) Huber for 63 incredible years. Devoted
father to the late Charles Allen (Chuckie) Huber, Marybeth Elliott (Peter), Carol Clark (Tom), Jean Anello
(Fred), Joe Huber (Casey), Tom Huber (Sheri), John Huber and Roy Bruce. Loving Grandfather (Granddad)
to 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Charles “Deacon Charlie” Huber was a man of service. To his Family, To his God, To his Community and To his Country. Rest In Peace Marine.
