Edward J. Cacioppo, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on February 25, 2025, in Albany, NY, at the age of 78. Born on January 25, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, Edward dedicated his life to serving others, first as a faithful member of the U.S. Army as a military policeman and later as a police officer with the Suffolk County Police Department. His commitment to public service exemplified his character, earning him respect and admiration from his colleagues and those he served.
Edward's journey began with an education that culminated in an associate's degree, marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to learning and growth. He was known not only for his professional endeavors but also for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering support of his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Cacioppo, who built with him together a beautiful life and family. Edward is also survived by his two sons, Edward Cacioppo and his partner Lenore Paprocky, and Anthony Cacioppo and his wife Mina, who carry forward his legacy of integrity and dedication. He took great joy in his role as a grandfather to Vincent and Sofia, with whom he shared countless precious moments. Edward's strong family ties extended to his sisters, Dolores Ash and Judi Cacioppo, who fondly remember their brother and the many memories they shared together. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Martha Cacioppo, who provided a nurturing home that shaped the man Edward became.
Visitation will be held on March 3, 2025, at the Mangano Family Funeral Home of Middle Island, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on March 4, 2025, at Saint Frances Cabrini RC Church in Coram, beginning at 11:00 AM. Following the mass, family and friends will proceed to Calverton National Cemetery, where Edward will be laid to rest.
Edward J. Cacioppo will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the love and devotion he exhibited to his family and friends throughout his life. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
