Edward J. Lettenberger, a dedicated retired Police Officer in New York City, passed away on December 6, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on January 23, 1940, in Queens, New York to his parents John and Marion. Edward lived a life marked by service and compassion.
After graduating high school, Edward honorably served in the Army from 1958 to 1962, an experience that instilled in him a strong sense of duty. Following his military service, he transitioned to a valuable career as a police officer in New York City, where he was known for his kind and caring nature. Throughout his career, Edward demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his community, building relationships founded on trust and respect.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda E. Lettenberger, and their two daughters, Pamela (and her husband John) and Wendy (and her husband Cliff), his seven grandchildren, Timothy (Edyta), Michael (Franciele), Andrew (Karen), Haley (Victoria), Kayleigh, Ryan (Lynn), and Danielle (Dave), and his 2 great-grandchildren Alivia and Amelia. The family will hold visitation and prayer services at Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY 11729. The visitation will be on December 8, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, followed by a prayer service beginning at 3:30 PM. There will also be an evening visitation the same day from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
Edward's legacy of kindness and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family invites friends and acquaintances to join them in commemorating his life and honoring his memory during this difficult time.
