Emily A. Whitney of Riverhead died May 6, 2019, at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 95.
She was born March 29, 1924, in Brooklyn to Marie (Flohn) and Irving Schneider.
She graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School in Queens.
For 25 years, she worked as an administrative assistant at Riverhead High School. She also managed the front desk at Riverhead Free Library for 28 years.
Whitney was a member and past president of the Riverhead Homemakers club and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Family members said she enjoyed sewing, knitting and dressing dolls for Operation Christmas Child.
She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Corwin, whom she married April 16, 1955, in Valley Stream and Norman Whitney, whom she married Dec. 5, 1970, in Hollis, N.Y. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Corwin of Chapel Hill, N.C.; son, Donald (Ginger) Corwin of Kendall Park, N.J.; and grandsons, Nathan, Peter, Markell and Daniel. She was also predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Jurgens.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, May 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Tuthill Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 10, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Aquebogue. Interment will follow at Riverhead Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
