On Tuesday, October 18, we said goodbye to Fathieh Dorry Mirian. She

was cherished by all who knew her, most especially her husband of 53

years, Sam. She was not only a nurturing mother to her own children,

Ali and Jasmine, but to countless others who called her their second

mom. Born in Sari, Iran, she was raised to be strong-willed and to

believe that a woman's role is what she wants it to be. So she dared

to set out for America, way before most Iranians began to immigrate.

After trying L.A., with offers from prestigious hospitals and a

scholarship, she turned it down for NYC, and became a well-respected

OR nurse with a reputation for taming difficult surgeons with her

combination of skill, charm, and toughness. She supported her husband

as he lifted a business off the ground, built a home for her family in

Dix Hills, NY, then re-built it while protecting them during deeply

troubled times. She healed wounds, nurtured broken relationships, and

anyone near or far that needed a mother's hand. She was adored by her

husband Sam from the moment they met, and cherished by her

grandchildren Cyrus and Mazyar.

Fathieh was preceded in death by her parents, Ali Akbar and Maryam

Dorry, her brothers Anoush Dorry and Jalal Dory, and her sister,

Nushin Moghadassi. She is survived by her husband, Sam, son Ali (wife,

Kelly, grandsons, Cyrus and Mazyar), her daughter Jasmine, her sisters

Mimi Shafii, Dorieh Tahouri, Shahin Oury, and countless cousins,

nieces, nephews, and dear friends that she considered part of her

family.

We invite friends and family to join us for a funeral service to honor

the life of Fathieh on Saturday, October 22, from 12-1pm at Mangano

Funeral Home. Burial services will be immediately following at

Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum.
