Dr. Fernando M. Ordoñez

Dr. Fernando M. Ordoñez, a dedicated pediatrician and infectious disease specialist, left this world on April 7, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on October 7, 1935, in the Philippines to his parents Fernando and Rosario, Dr. Ordoñez devoted over 40 years of his life to caring for children in Holbrook, NY, where his practice became a beloved fixture of the community. His commitment to his patients spanned three generations, a testament to his enduring compassion and dedication. He worked tirelessly, embodying what it truly means to live a life of service, kindness, and unwavering love. Fernando was a lifelong resident of Smithtown.

Fernando is remembered not only for his medical expertise but for the warmth and depth he brought to every relationship. He was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great-grandfather, and best friend. He had an uncanny ability to touch countless lives, instilling lessons and love that will resonate forever. His family and friends here in the United States and across the Philippines will carry forward the teachings of patience, empathy, and hard work that he so ardently exemplified.

He will be deeply missed by his sons, Kevin G. Ordoñez, Stephen G. Ordoñez, Tim G. and his wife Jill Ordoñez, and Sean G. Ordoñez. His legacy continues with his grandchildren: Taryn and her husband Charlie, Justin and his wife Callie, Ryan, Jordan and her husband Drew, and Colin and Avery. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Greyson and Maximus.

Our hearts ache with the loss of this remarkable man, yet amid our sorrow, we find solace in knowing he has been reunited with his beloved wife, Linda, with whom he shared a beautiful 56 years of marriage. Together, they created an incredible legacy filled with guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love.

Today, as we celebrate Dr. Fernando M. Ordoñez’s life, his spirit of compassion and dedication will remain an enduring inspiration, illuminating our paths and forever encouraging us to nurture one another, just as he did.

Friends and family may pay their respects during visitation at Mangano Family Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. A prayer service will also be held on Thursday at 11:30 AM. Following the prayer service, a burial will be held at Saint Charles Cemetery, East Farmingdale, NY.
