Floyd “Dutch” L. Dussetschleger, age 85, of Shelton CT, previously from Dix Hills NY, and the loving husband of Connie for over 57 years, entered into eternal rest in Griffin Hospital on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022.
Dutch was born in Lexington, Texas on July 22, 1936. After obtaining his dental degree from the University of Texas at Houston dental branch, he served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps from 1962-1964 stationed in California. This is where he met the love of his life Connie. They were married on May 30, 1964.
After moving back to New York to be closer to Connie’s family, Dutch practiced dentistry in Dix Hills for 40 years. He greatly enjoyed his caring for his patients and having multiple generations of families come to him for care. Towards the end of his dental career, Dutch became a clinical instructor at New York University School of Dental Medicine, where he guided the next generation of dentists.
An avid lover of sports, Dutch adopted the New York Mets and New York Islanders upon living in New York. His family has many fond memories of time spent at Shea Stadium and Nassau Coliseum. Later in life Dutch greatly enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in various sports to include soccer, basketball and swimming.
Dutch was always a generous and honorable person, always looking to take care of his family and friends. Dutch enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially time with his grandchildren. He was involved with his grandchildren and kept up with each of their interests.
In addition to his beloved wife, Connie, survivors include his children Jeffrey (Patti) Dussetschleger and Dori (Mike) Cinque, and grandchildren Marisa, Lauren, Maddie, Michael, and Matthew. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brothers, William and “Dee”, and sisters Arlene and Carlene.
