Francis Leonard Grue, an electrician for the NYC Transit Authority and decorated Vietnam War veteran, passed away on January 4, 2025, in Stony Brook, NY. Born on November 8, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, Francis lived a life marked by dedication, both in his profession and his military service.
Francis proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War, a commitment that shaped his character and instilled in him a profound sense of duty and honor. His contributions as an electrician were equally significant; he played an essential role in keeping the transit system running smoothly, ensuring that countless commuters could rely on safe and efficient transportation.
Francis is survived by his beloved wife, Isabella Grue. He also leaves behind a son, Anthony Grue, and his wife, Rosa, along with two treasured grandchildren, Anthony and Carson. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Grace Grue, whose memory he honored throughout his life.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY, with sessions from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Mass celebrating Francis's life will take place on January 8, 2025, at Saint Matthew R.C. Church, located at 35 North Service Road, Dix Hills, NY, starting at 11:45 AM. Following the mass, family and friends will proceed to Saint Charles Cemetery, where Francis will be laid to rest.
Francis Leonard Grue will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his contributions to his community, and his service to his country. May he rest in eternal peace.
