Gabrielle Rende

Gabrielle (Chuck/Charlie) Rende born May 15th 1933, in Provincia di Lago Cosenza, Calabria, Italy to Pasquale & Carmella Rende, immigrated to the US, as one of 4 siblings, previously deceased sister’s Antionette “Ann“ Rende-Short, & Assunta “Vera” Rende-Deluca, older brother Anthony “Tony” Rende Sr. They made a home in Aliquippa, Pa., on 1710 Pierce street.

He worked in the J & L Steel Mill & upon graduation of high school joined the Navy. He served 4 years on an Aircraft carrier, The USS Lake Champlain during the Korean War. After discharge, met his wife, Margaret, they were married on May 20th 1957, moved to New York & began their family. Originally of Oakdale then retiring to Birchwood at Spring Lake gated community in Middle Island. Owned & operated Oakdale 40 Lanes for several years. Involved in a bowling league. Worked as a Deputy in Suffolk County & served 28 years, Retiring as UnderSheriff in 1989.

He served as Grand Night in the Knights of Columbus in Middle Island at The Mother Cabrini church, and was also a Former District Deputy. He was responsible for organizing the Wounded Warrior Golf Tournament Fundraiser for 10 years.

He is Survived by his wife, Margaret, 3 beautiful daughters & their husbands. Maria & Corvin Wood of Calif, Janice & Orlando Cardinuto of NY, Patrice & Nick DiSabatino of NY.

He was blessed with 12 Grandchildren, Alan, Crystal, Ryan, Jaclyn, Lindsey, Joe, Rebecca, Damian, Nicholas, Catherine, Gabrielle & Jimmy, as well as 13 Great Grandchildren Gia, Brynn, Blake, Jordyn, Kevin, Jake, Lukas, Thomas, Dylan, Luca, Niko, Laina & Jameson. Many Nieces & Nephews.




Gabrielle (Chuck), was a very proud man, not only of his growing family, but all of whom he helped. He enjoyed golf, organized & Chaired bingo for the knights, being involved with the church, as well as visiting the veterans at the Stony Brook Veterans Hospital.



Funeral services will be held at The Mangano Funeral home in Middle Island; Wednesday eve April 6th, 7-9:30 pm, Thursday April 7th, 2-4:30 pm & 7-9:30 pm. Mass services will be held on Friday April 8th, 9:30 @ Mother Cabrini church in Middle Island. Internment for immediate family only following the mass.
