George Joseph Nugent, Jr.

George Joseph Nugent, Jr., a beloved member of the Lindenhurst community in New York, passed away on December 12, 2023, at the age of 89. George was born on January 11, 1934, in Manhattan, New York, to his loving parents George and Loretta.

George began his career as a printer for Southbay News, dedicating himself to providing quality news to the people of Lindenhurst and its surrounding areas. His commitment to delivering accurate and reliable information earned him the respect and admiration of both colleagues and readers alike.

George's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his children; Nancy (Paul) Grandinetti, Dawn (The Late Edward) Delurey, Geraldine (Anthony) DiMaio, his sister; Judy Carola, and all other surviving family members and friends. Their love for George is boundless; their memories are filled with laughter shared together.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, George was known for his warm personality and kind heart. George's genuine compassion touched the lives of many, earning him immense love from his friends and family. A veteran of the armed forces, George proudly served his country.  George's military service was an integral part of his identity, embodying the values of honor, integrity, and selflessness. If George wasn't spending his time with family, he had a passion for spending his time out on his boat at Gilgo Beach.

A burial service will be held to honor George's life on December 19, 2023, at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York at 12:00 PM. The address of the cemetery is 210 Princeton Boulevard Calverton, New York 11933.

George Joseph Nugent, Jr.'s legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. His dedication to his profession, his kindness towards others, and his unwavering love for his country will forever be remembered and cherished. May he rest in eternal peace.
