George S. Roque, 62, passed away suddenly Tuesday, July 2, in Riverhead, New York. He is survived by his wife, Betty Perry; sons William Roque (wife Kimberly), Michael Perry (wife Rendee), and James Perry; grandchildren Noah, Collin, Daniel and Riley; niece Nicole Wittenstein; his sisters Margaret and Mary Roque; and many cousins and nieces.
George was born in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to Riverhead in the mid-1980s. He worked at Riverhead Building Supply for 30 years, retiring in 2016. He was a hard worker and loyal employee who carried that same work ethic and dedication to all aspects of his life. He will be remembered as a loving partner, father, family man and friend, as well as a consummate classic car enthusiast and talented artist, specializing in acrylic paintings. His and Betty’s garage and guest room were littered with car parts and canvases in equal measure. George was known for being quick with a smile and always willing to lend a hand when he could. He was, intentionally or not, considered a mentor—a title family members say he’d likely deny. His loss is, and will continue to be, felt deeply by those who knew and loved him.
