Giuseppe Purpura

Giuseppe Purpura, a cherished member of his family, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on August 27, 1933, in Carini, Sicily, Giuseppe's early life was shaped by the rich traditions of his homeland. He moved here from Italy when he was just 27 years old. He carried the values of hard work and dedication throughout his life, which he applied wholeheartedly to his career as a gardener.

Giuseppe found joy in nurturing plants and landscapes, creating beauty that would be appreciated by many. His passion for gardening was not just a job; it was a reflection of his love for nature and the serene moments it provided. Friends and family will remember him as a man whose hands were always in the soil, cultivating life and beauty around him.  

Giuseppe was a true family man and cherished his loved ones. He is survived by his son, Joseph S. Purpura and his wife Christine, and daughter, Rose Daley and her husband Chris. Giuseppe also leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Anna, Carolena, Christian, Joseph, Matthew, and Evelyn. Each of them carries forward the values and lessons their grandfather instilled in them, rooted in respect, love, and dedication to family. Giuseppe is predeceased by his wife, Antoinette Purpura (1999).

Giuseppe’s family invites all those who knew him to pay their respects during the visitation services scheduled for November 11, 2024, at Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY. The first visitation will take place from 2:00 PM till 4:30 PM, followed by another session from 7:00 PM until 9:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on November 12, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church at 9:30 AM. 

Giuseppe Purpura's memory will be lovingly cherished by those he leaves behind, and his contributions to both his family and his community will not be forgotten. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones as they celebrate the remarkable life he led.
