Hazel E. Hobson

Hazel E. Hobson of Riverhead died Dec. 7, 2018. She was 97 years old.

Born June 7, 1921, she was the daughter of Cleveland and Frances Hill Howard.

She attended Southold and Greenport high schools. She married Woodrow W. Hobson on June 2, 1946.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Riverhead for more than 70 years. She was a member of the church choir.

Her hobbies included singing, playing the piano and sewing. She was an avid Mets fan. She was also a co-founder of Club 96.

Predeceased by her husband, two children, her brothers Herman, John and Cleveland Howard, sisters Emma Martin, Frances DeJesus and Lillie Mae Johnson, she is survived by her sister Margaret R. Jones of Macon, Georgia, a god-daughter Glendowlyn Howard and her cousin Carnal Hobson Sr., who was her caretaker.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Riverhead, 1018 Northville Turnpike, Riverhead, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
