Henry H. Dow, born on May 18, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, passed away on February 24, 2025, in Riverhead, NY. He was a dedicated sanitation worker for the City of New York Department of Sanitation, contributing to the cleanliness and health of the city throughout his career.
Henry's service to his country began when he enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1954, during the Korean War. His bravery and dedication earned him both the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, a testament to his courage and commitment to his fellow soldiers.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Laura Dow, along with his stepdaughter, Susan Gentile. He is also survived by his cherished nieces, Rosemary Ventre and Lisa Pipitone, and his nephew, Michael Ventre. Henry was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Dow.
A visitation will be held at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead, NY, on February 27, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM, with a second visitation session starting at 7:00 PM. A prayer service will take place that evening at 8:00 PM. Henry will be laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery on February 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
Henry H. Dow will be remembered for his service both to his country and his community, as well as for the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
