James W. Conklin, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 88 on January 11, 2024. Born on May 21, 1935, in Pitman, NJ, James was renowned as the Director of Purchasing for Stony Brook University Hospital. With his superb organizational skills and unwavering commitment to his work, he made countless contributions to the institution.
After completing his Master's degree, James embarked on his professional journey at Stony Brook University Hospital. With his exceptional expertise and sound judgment, he played a pivotal role in ensuring that the hospital had access to necessary resources and supplies. His dedication and meticulous attention to detail were exemplary. James's contributions extended beyond the workplace. He served in the Army, valiantly defending our nation during his military service. His selflessness and patriotism were deeply admired by those around him.
Not only was James a devoted professional, but he also cherished his family immensely. James is predeceased by his first wife Arlette. He leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment to those closest to him. He is survived by his beloved wife Annette Conklin, with whom he shared many blessed years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful family that included children Leslie (Harry) Neff, Craig Conklin, Arlette (Didier) Siffer, and Eric Conklin and step-children Donna (Alan) Prim, Linda Drasser, Joanne (John) Vohs, and Joseff (Mary) Russo. In addition to his immediate family members, James is mourned by his brother David (Carole), 18 loving grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who each brought immeasurable joy to his life.
James W. Conklin's life will be remembered with warmth and fondness by all those who knew him. To celebrate his life and honor his memory, visitation services will be held at Mangano Family Funeral Home Of Middle Island located at 640 Middle Country Rd, Middle Island, NY 11953. The first visitation event will take place on January 13th, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The evening visitation event is scheduled for the same day, from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
A private burial service will conclude the funeral proceedings on January 14th, 2024.
James W. Conklin has left an indelible mark on the many lives he touched throughout his fruitful career and personal life. He will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and unwavering dedication to his profession and loved ones. May his soul find eternal peace as his memory lives on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
