Jan Rosowicz of Deer Park passed away peacefully on September 6, 2020. Born on August 16, 1932 in Poland, he survived the September 1, 1969 German invasion in his village which marked the start of World War II. He became a merchant marine and stowed away on ship to Germany in his twenties to escape the Communist regime in Poland to come to America. He met his future wife Janina at Vassar College where they worked in maintenance before moving to Greenpoint, Brooklyn. He later worked for United Airlines. He is survived by his wife Janina and three grandsons, Andrew, Joseph and Christian. He was predeceased by his son Adam. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
