Jennifer Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend and published Christian author, passed away in Riverhead, NY. She was born on June 17, 1947, in Mattituck, NY to loving parents Wister and Estelle Rollins. Jennifer will be remembered not only for her literary contributions but also for her kindness and love for others.
Jennifer was known as the matriarch of her family. She was always there to offer a kind word of encouragement, or to lend an ear for someone's troubles. She spread joy and love everywhere she went. She was well known for her culinary and baking skills as well, spending hours surrounded by food, family and friends. When she wasn't in the kitchen or with her family, Jennifer could be found tending her gardens, bringing beauty to the earth as only she knew how.
Those who knew Jennifer described her as the family matriarch, always offering words of encouragement and wisdom. Her loving and kind personality touched the hearts of many. Jennifer is survived by her children Charlene (Charlie) Williams, Darien Johnson, and Jeffrey Johnson. Jennifer is predeceased by her son, Steven Johnson. She is also remembered by her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is survived as well by her sister, Wanda Roberts Brown. Jennifer also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart. Jennifer is predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Johnson, and sisters June Rollins Boyce, Carol Rollins Huges, Veronica Rollins Harris and Virginia Gray.
A visitation and prayer service will be held to honor Jennifer's life at the Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead on Monday, February 26th. The visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the prayer service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A procession to Mattituck Cemetery will occur following the prayer service at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to attend and pay their last respects to the deceased and her family.
Jennifer's legacy of love, kindness, and literary wisdom will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace knowing she was cherished by many.
