Joan Heusel, a cherished matriarch and devoted homemaker, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, in Shirley, New York. Born on January 12, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, Joan lived a life enriched by her love for family and dedication to nurturing her household.
Joan was known for her warm heart and gentle spirit, always putting needs of others before her own. Her life was characterized by her unwavering support to those around her, instilling values of kindness and perseverance in her loved ones.
Joan is survived by her beloved family, including children Ronnie and Jay Artrip, John and Jeanne Heusel, Debra Heusel Mobarak, Stephen, Kurt, and Wayne Heusel, Ruth Heusel Questel, and Payge and James Quigg, along with Troy and Dayne Heusel. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters, Celia Herlihy and Jane Spinelli. Each of these individuals carries forward the essence of her spirit and the lessons she imparted.
Visitation services for Joan will take place at Mangano Funeral Home of Middle Island on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 2:00pm to 4:30pm, and again from 7:00pm to 9:30pm. A prayer service in honor of Joan will be held during the evening visitation, beginning at 7:30pm. On the following day, Tuesday, February 18, family and friends will proceed to Calverton National Cemetery for Joan's burial service located at 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton, New York. We will leave the funeral home at 12:00pm. Family and friends are invited to gather as they pay their last respects to a wonderful woman whose love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she left behind.
Joan Heusel's legacy of love, compassion, and devotion will be remembered by all who knew her, as she now rests in eternal peace.
