John B. Fatuzzo

December 10, 1925 — December 28, 2021

John B. Fatuzzo – December 10, 1925 - December 28, 2021. Son of the late Giuseppe and Rosaria Fatuzzo and brother of the late Maria Fatuzzo. Beloved husband to wife Josephine Vaiana, cherished father of Joseph and his wife Bridget, and dedicated grandfather to John and Michaela. John was also a dear uncle to Lawrence and Karen Marsiello, Jeanette Senneca, and great uncle to their children James, Allison, Peter, Elizabeth, Christine, and their spouses.

Born in the United States but raised in Sicily, John spent his formative years under the shadow and threat of Fascism and World War - having barely survived many bombings and attempts to conscript him into a lost cause. Following the war, John learned to become a tailor by trade and returned to United States for better opportunities.

John was a hardworking family man, who owned Jon-Jay Formals, a tailoring and formal wear business for over 30 years, making hundreds of wedding couples, business professionals, and prom-goers and happy and smartly dressed for their occasions. As a business and property owner in Ridgewood, Queens he was a member and one time President of the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce.

In his retirement, John was an avid gardener and tended over his flowers, grapevines, and tomato plants. He also had a special love of antique mechanical clocks – which could be heard chiming throughout the house.

When poor health befell his wife Josephine, and later his sister Maria, John was a dedicated caretaker to them both.

John was a member of “The Greatest Generation” and exemplified service to his family, community and promoting the best in everything he did and everyone he touched. John will be greatly missed.
