Joseph Charles Waldner, a dedicated Steam Fitter for the Local 638 in Queens, New York, passed away on July 5, 2023. Born on March 3, 1942, in Queens, New York, Joseph led a remarkable life filled with hard work, love, and a passion for sports.
Outside of his professional life, Joseph found solace and joy in various hobbies and interests. He was a fan of the outdoors and embraced every opportunity to soak up the sunshine, especially when he visited Aruba. Whether it be golfing or tending to his garden, Joseph found peace in nature.
One of Joseph's greatest joys was coaching baseball. He selflessly shared his knowledge and passion for the game with aspiring young athletes. His coaching style emphasized teamwork and sportsmanship. Sports were not only an activity for Joseph but also a way to connect with friends and family. As an avid Yankees fan, he never missed watching a game. His enthusiasm for basketball was equally infectious, as he relished cheering on his favorite teams with those closest to him.
In addition to sports, Joseph had a discerning palate for good food. Whether it be cooking meals for family gatherings or exploring local eateries, he cherished every opportunity to savor delicious flavors alongside loved ones. Joseph's zest for life was infectious. He had an unmistakable charisma that drew people to him effortlessly. He made friends easily wherever he went and cherished the relationships he built throughout the years.
Born to the Late Joseph Charles Waldner and the Late Antoinette Waldner, Joseph was predeceased by his brother, James Waldner. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Joseph is survived by his adoring family, including his wife of 60 years, Joan Waldner (Née: Desiderio), his son Joseph C. (Antoinette) Waldner, daughters Denise Chamberlain and Leslie (Eric) Haas, and sister Mary Ellen Waldner. He also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren who were the light of his life.
To celebrate and honor Joseph's life, memorial services will be held at Deer Park- Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Pk Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729. The first visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM on July 9, 2023. The second visitation will take place from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM on the same day. Additionally, a Prayer Service will be held from 8:00 PM to 8:45 PM.
Joseph Charles Waldner will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his work, his love for sports and nature, and above all, his deep devotion to family and friends. He has left behind an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.
