Josephine Decristan of Deer Park, NY, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 3, 2024, at the SouthShore University Medical Center in Bay Shore, NY. She was born on April 9, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY. Josephine was surrounded by her loved ones as she peacefully left this world.
Josephine was a high school graduate and cherished her education as a foundation for learning and personal growth. She possessed a vibrant personality that touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Josephine had a one-of-a-kind spirit that drew people to her. Her genuine love for others and infectious joy made her the life of every party.
Described as spontaneous and full of life, Josephine had an incredible ability to make any situation fun. She loved to have a good time and was always the center of attention with her witty remarks and irresistible charm. Her laughter filled the room and brought warmth to the hearts of those around her.
Josephine was known for her strength and resilience. A tough lady with a heart of gold, she faced life's challenges head-on with unwavering courage. She was not just a great mother to her children but also an amazing mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother who welcomed each new member into their family with open arms.
Josephine's family meant everything to her. She is survived by Barbara Lucchini (daughter), Joseph Decristan (son), Richard Decristan (son), Gina Atanasil (daughter), and Matthew Decristan (son). Her love for them knew no bounds, and she embraced every moment spent together as precious gifts.
In addition to her immediate family members mentioned above, Josephine is also mourned by extended relatives and countless friends who feel privileged to have known such an extraordinary woman.
The opportunity to pay respects to Josephine will be available through various events held at Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY, 11729. Visitation will take place on February 8, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on the same day from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
On February 9, a final opportunity to bid farewell will be provided with visitation at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Following this, a burial service will be held at Saint Charles Cemetery located at 2015 Wellwood Ave, East Farmingdale, NY, 11735. The burial will commence at 11:00 AM.
Josephine's parents Matteo and Nancy Cerbone preceded her in death. Their love and support were instrumental in shaping Josephine into the amazing woman she became.
Josephine's friends and family remember her beautiful soul that radiated love and compassion. Her memory lives on in our hearts as we cherish the moments spent with her and strive to emulate her spirit of joy and resilience.
