Kenneth Thomas Wessels, Sr. was called to our Lord on May 28, 2023 at the age of 83. Ken (Wes) was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Family was at the core of Ken’s heart, and he demonstrated his love and sensitivity to all who knew him.
Ken was the second son of John and Mary Wessels and brother to John Wessels (deceased). He was raised in Seaford, New York and graduated from Chaminade High School as an All American Marksman. Ken attended St. John’s University, Queens, New York, and was a member of the baseball team. While attending college, Ken worked as a cab driver and gas attendant when he met his devoted wife of 62 years, Josephine (Costello) Wessels.
Ken and Josephine (Joey, as he fondly called her) married December 9, 1961 and welcomed three amazing children; Kenneth Thomas Wessels, Jr., Jenine Wessels and John Carmello (JC) Wessels. Ken and Josephine raised their family in Massapequa, New York. Ken owned and operated a Coca-Cola franchise for 35 years and a snack food distribution business with his son, JC, in Hilton Head, South Carolina before retiring to a life of family, friends and celebrations.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Josephine, and their adoring children Kenneth Wessels, Jr (Cathy), Jenine Wessels (Kipp Warner), JC Wessels (Harley and Chris Snell), and adopted son, Steve Housaman (Kelly), and seven grandchildren: Corinne Niswander (Hunter), Kenneth Wessels III, Gunnar Wessels, Deanna Rollins (Edwin), Arlene Warner, Leah Warner, and Mary Agnes Wessels, along with his great grandchild, Emi Rei Niswander, as well as his nieces and nephews, Jackie Matheson (Richie), Keith Wessels (Kathy), Karen Wessels Prainito, and Douglas Wessels.
Friends and Family are invited to attend visitation on June 4th from 1:00PM - 4:00PM EST & from 6:00PM - 8:00PM EST at the Deer Park- Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Pk Ave , Deer Park NY 11729.
A Mass will be held to celebrate Kenneth T. Wessels Sr's life on June 5th at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church located at 125 Half Hollow Rd., Deer Park NY 11729 at 10:15 AM EST followed by burial at Pinelawn Memorial Park thereafter.
