Lorraine L. West

Lorraine L. West, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away on December 12, 2024, in West Islip, New York. Born on July 11, 1939, in Rockville Centre, Lorraine's life was a testament to love, resilience, and generosity. She was the daughter of John Hoeffner and Loretta Jacobs. Lorraine lived a life dedicated to her family and her job as a secretary at The Diocese of Rockville Centre and her legacy continues through her devoted children: Mary Ellen Abrams and her late son-in-law Gary, James (Dawn) West, John (Jennifer) West and Jerard (Kristy) West. She will be deeply missed by her brother Leroy Hoeffner. She took great pride in being a grandmother to her cherished grandchildren: Jared, Arthur, Anna, John, Nicholas, Andrew, Emily, and James. Each of them held a special place in her heart and brought her immense joy. Lorraine's warm spirit and kindness touched everyone she encountered. She was a nurturing presence, always ready with a listening ear or a comforting word, and her home was a welcoming haven for family and friends alike. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lorraine's life and legacy at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead, NY. Visitation will occur on December 22, 2024; the first session will be from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, followed by a prayer service beginning at 4:00 PM. Later that evening, an additional visitation will take place from 7:00 PM until 9:30 PM. A Mass will be held on December 23, 2024, at Saint John the Evangelist, commencing at 11:00 AM. Lorraine L. West will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
