Louis A. Bottaro, of Deer Park, New York, passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on September 1, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, to Anthony and Lillian Bottaro, Louis lived a life full of love and dedication, marked by his deep ties to family and community.
Louis was well-known as a skilled diamond setter on Canal Street in New York City, where his craftsmanship earned him respect and admiration. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle whose presence brought warmth to those around him. His cherished wife, Angelina Bottaro, and their children, (Anthony) Jimmy, Lisa Masotti and his son in law Anthony Masotti were the center of his world. He is also survived by his grandsons, Matteo, Giovanni, and Antonio, who were the joy of his life. Louis was known for being there for his grandsons, providing comfort and support as they grew. They always called him PA.
Louis had a vibrant personality that was characterized by his love for animals, particularly his enjoyment of feeding the birds and squirrels. An animal lover at heart, he had a special way of connecting with nature, as birds would land on his arms and squirrels would eat from his hands – a reflection of the gentle spirit he embodied. He also had a passion for the beach, where he loved to sit in the sun and soak in the beauty around him. Louis was an avid poker player and enjoyed betting on horses.
Alongside his many interests, Louis leaves behind fond memories that include his famous phrase, “Shut the door!” upon greeting guests at his home and the beloved quote he embodied: “The more people I meet, the more I love my Dogs.” These snippets of his character illustrate the humor and love he shared with all around him.
He joins in eternal rest with his deceased family members: his sister Lorraine, son Anthony Bottaro, granddaughter Jessica Bottaro, and twin brother Pete Bottaro, who will be greatly missed.
Louis A. Bottaro’s life will be celebrated with a Mass at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church in Deer Park on January 4, 2025, at 11:15 AM. The service will commemorate his kindness, his love for family, and the memories that remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will forever be remembered as an extraordinary person whose legacy will continue to touch the lives of many.
