Louis J. Sabo, age 86, of Riverhead, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Westhampton Care Center. He was born on June 4, 1929 in New Brunswick, NJ to Louis Sabo and Helen Sabo (nee: Gauer). He served in the U.S. Army Tank Co. 279 during the Korean War. While in the army he achieved the rank of sergeant and was awarded a bronze service star. He was self-employed as a builder and completed many projects in and around the Riverhead area. He was an expert in wood working and the art of crafting whiligigs. Louis also had his 'pilots license' and took many friends and family flying with him. He loved to play solitaire on his computer. He is survived by his loving wife Joan Sabo (nee: Urban), beloved daughter Susan Sabo, sons John and Robert Sabo, dear sister Dorothy Bekiesz, devoted grandfather of 2 and great grandfather of 2. He will also be missed by his faithful companion Yorkie Bella. A service with military honors will be held for Louis on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, 11:00 am in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY. Family and friends attending are kindly requested to meet at the office in Calverton National Cemetery at 11:00 am on the 13th. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
