Mabel M. Hughes passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and care. She was born to Thomas and Mabel McSherry on July 20, 1937 in Queens, NY.

Mabel was a devoted mother of three daughters and loved her family immensely. Her presence brought warmth and light to the lives of all she knew.

Mabel was married to Edward Hughes for over 40 years until his death in 2003. Mabel is survived by her daughters, Pattie Melnyk (Mike), Eileen Irizarry (Rich) and Mary Carlson (Mark). She also had six grandchildren who she loved and adored, Connor, Amanda (Corey), Caitlin, Shannon (Justin), Chris and Elizabeth. Mabel's love will always live on through them as they carry forward the values she held dear.

A mass ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at St. Ignatius Martyr Church, 721 W Broadway, Long Beach, NY 11561 at 12:30pm. Those who wish to attend the service are asked to meet directly at church by 12:15pm.

Mabel will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace knowing how loved and cherished she was.
