Marian E. Bowden

Marian E. Bowden of Riverhead died April 10. She was 99.

She was born July 20, 1919, to Stella Fannins and John Nienstedt in Baiting Hollow, N.Y.

After graduating from high school, she attended Brown Business School in New York City.

Ms. Bowden married Harold Bowden and made a career as an office manager for U.S. Department of Agriculture in its Riverhead office.

She was a member of Baiting Hollow Congregational Church, Church and Community Club and Friends of the Riverhead Library.

Ms. Bowden was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Lynne; her grandson, Efrem, and his wife, Mari; her great-granddaughter, Rachel; and many nieces and nephews.

Interment will take place Monday, April 15, at 10:45 a.m. at Baiting Hollow Cemetery.

Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead assisted the family with a private cremation.
