Marie Barone-Kalhorn

November 27, 1947 — August 25, 2024

North Babylon

Marie Barone-Kalhorn, a beloved matriarch and cherished to many, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024, at the age of 76. Born in Queens, NY, on November 27, 1947, Marie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family and friends.

As a dedicated wife to her husband, John, Marie exemplified what it meant to build a loving home. Together, they raised four wonderful children: Diane, Steven, Michael, and John and she loved each of their spouses as her own: Frank, Alyne, Melissa and Phil. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her children; she adored her seven grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren, who brought endless joy into her life. As a fantastic sister, Marie shared countless memories with her beloved siblings, Katherine, Gloria, Julie, Lillian, and Sonny who have preceded her in death and her sisters Diane and Jane whom she has left to continue to build memories with her children and grandchildren while Marie stays with them in spirit.

Marie was known for her warm and accepting personality. She was a great mother who embraced the chaos and beauty of family life, always making time for her children & grandchildren while also nurturing her passion for cooking & baking. Her homemade Christmas cookies became a holiday tradition that many awaited every year, a sweet reminder of the love and care she poured into her family.

In addition to her role as a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Marie was a remarkable woman who went back to work after the birth of her youngest son, John, demonstrating her resilience and strong work ethic. Her ability to balance career and family made her not just an inspiration, but a role model for many.

Marie's kindness knew no bounds, and she was truly loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her incredible spirit and the warmth of her smile will be sorely missed, yet the memories she created will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Visitation services for Marie will take place on August 29, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the Mangano Family Funeral Home in Deer Park, NY.
