Marietta Vivirito, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on December 22, 2023 at the age of 85. She lived a life full of love, faith, and remarkable dedication to her family and friends.
Marietta was born October 10, 1938 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn to Vincenza (Jenny) and Gildo Facchino, and went to Bay Ridge High School. When she was 18, she married the love of her life, Philip Vivirito, and they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage, building a beautiful family of four children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Marietta’s infectious laugh and bright smile brought joy to those who had the privilege of being around her. She was so caring, and always offered words of strength and wisdom during challenging times–they served as a testament to her own resilience.
Marietta’s warm spirit will live on through the fond memories held by those who knew and loved her. Her expressions of love through her incredible cooking and beautifully hand-crafted quilts will be remembered and cherished for a long time to come.
Marietta’s absence will be deeply felt by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her dear husband Philip Vivirito, her beloved daughter Katherine Vivirito Orta, and her vivacious sister, Josephine Chinnici. She is survived by her son Philip, daughter-in law Kathleen, grandchildren Philip, Thomas, and Grace, and great-grandchildren Philip and Skyler; son Nicholas, daughter-in-law Lisa, granddaughters Stephanie and Lauren, and great-grandchildren Madeline and Lucas; son Joseph and daughter-in-law Jennifer; son-in-law Hiram and grandchildren Matthew and Hannah; niece Denise Chinnici, great-nephew Christopher and great-niece Jamie; and cousins and friends who were dear to her heart.
Until we meet again, Marietta will be dearly missed.
