Maryanne Michelle (Fotia) Renz, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023, in Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, Washington DC. She was born to Joseph and Margaret (Peggy) Fotia on August 12, 1941, in Queens, NY.
Maryanne is predeceased by her parents and her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Renz. She is survived by her sons, Matthew and Mark (Lieske), and six (6) grandchildren – Brennan, Andrew, Erik, Finnleigh, (Matthew), Annika and Griffin (Mark). In addition to her immediate family, Maryanne is survived by her beloved sister Margaret (Peggy) Flashberg. Their bond was unbreakable, providing each other with strength throughout their lives.
Maryanne and Bob lived in East Northport, NY before moving to Port Washington, NY. Upon retirement, they moved to Virginia for a number of years, only to return to NY, residing in Baiting Hollow on Long Island. After Bob’s passing in 2007, Maryanne moved to Calverton, NY.
A graduate of Fordham University, she enjoyed a distinguished career as a writing executive in the NYC advertising industry. In retirement Maryanne taught herself art and became an avid painter. She exhibited and sold her artwork on the east end of Long Island and made many friendships within the art community.
Maryanne touched the lives of many through her many talents, warm personality, and kindheartedness. Her friends and colleagues will always remember her for her quick wit and contagious laughter.
A visitation to pay respects to Maryanne will be held at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home located at 406 E Main St, Riverhead, NY 11901 on December 1, 2023. The visitation will begin at 8:30 AM and conclude at 11:00 AM. Following the visitation, a mass in honor of Maryanne's life will take place at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, situated at 546 St Johns Pl, Riverhead, NY 11901. The mass will commence at 11:00 AM and conclude at 12:00 PM. Maryanne will be laid to rest in a burial ceremony at Saint Charles Cemetery, located at 2015 Wellwood Ave, East Farmingdale, NY 11735. The burial will take place at 12:45 PM on December 1, 2023.
Maryanne's warm presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy as a talented writer and a caring individual will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.
