Michael F. Ross

Michael F. Ross, a loving father and hardworking man, passed away on August 27, 2023, in Huntington, NY, at age 85. Born on July 22, 1938, to Rosalie Smith and James Oliver Phillips in Barbados. Michael lived a life filled with love and dedication to his family and community.

Married to his childhood sweetheart, Jannette (Jan) Ross, they had two daughters and moved to Queens from Barbados. Michael began working as a press machine operator in the garment industry. Always having entrepreneurial ambitions, he partnered with a close friend and opened his own boutique. His wife managed the day-to-day operations, while he maintained his full-time job. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, setting an example of determination and resilience. Widowed early in life, Michael never went on to remarry but shared his life with Luz Maria (Lucy) Cruz with whom he had three children.

Michael impacted the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. He was a pillar of strength for his loved ones during both joyful and challenging times. Friends and family could always count on him for a listening ear, sound advice, or simply a warm smile to brighten their day.

Michael's memory will live on through his surviving family members who cherish him deeply. He leaves behind his beloved children, Lisa, husband John Uribe; Trena, husband Jacques Durocher; Denise, husband Benoit Cador; Arlene, husband Rickey Roberts; and Raphael, wife Analis Ross. He also leaves behind his siblings Angela Margaret Rose Phillips, Andrew Oliver Phillips, and Mitchell Emerson Phillips. Michael is survived by his twelve grandchildren, as well as his great-granddaughter. Their lives will always be touched by their father's love and guidance.
