We are saddened to announce the passing of Michael S. Shimskie, on November 16, 2023 at 80 years. Mr. Shimskie's journey began on April 2, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, where he was born to his loving parents, Michael and Agnes Shimskie. Michael was a lifelong resident of Deer Park, New York, who recently moved to Vero Beach, Florida.
After completing his education, Michael embarked on a remarkable career as a Film Projectionist. With precision and dedication, he skillfully operated projectors behind the scenes, bringing stories to life for countless moviegoers.
Michael is predeceased by his wife, Elaine Shimskie. Together they created a home filled with love. Michael's role as a father brought him immeasurable joy and fulfillment as a devoted father to Dawn Einsfeld (Greg), Stephen Shimskie (Roberta), Dionne Bader (Robert), and the Late Francis M. Shimskie.
Family gatherings were always met with laughter and joy in the Shimskie household. As a doting grandfather, Michael shared delightful moments alongside his five grandchildren – creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations to come. His magnetic presence extended even further as he got to enjoy the company of his six great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness. Michael is also survived by his sister, Elaine, and her husband Gene.
In addition to his family, Michael leaves behind a wide circle of friends and family who held him in high regard. His kindness, humor, and unwavering loyalty endeared him to all those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be deeply missed by countless lives he touched throughout his lifetime.
Today, we bid farewell to a remarkable individual whose passion for cinema and warmth of character brightened the lives of everyone he encountered. Although his physical presence may no longer be with us, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts and minds.
A celebration of Michael S. Shimskie's life will be held at Mangano Funeral Home - 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, New York, 11729 on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral mass will follow that same day at Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Bay Shore, New York, at 11:30 AM. A burial will follow immediately after at Pinelawn Memorial Park, East Farmindale, New York. We invite all those who knew and loved him to join us in honoring his memory and sharing stories that illustrate the profound impact he had on our lives.
May we find solace in cherishing the memories we shared with Michael, knowing that he has left an enduring legacy within us all. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
