Muriel M. Alvarez

Muriel M. Alvarez passed away at age 94, following a prolonged battle against cancer. Loving mother to Anne (dec. 1966) and Joseph “Jay” Jerger, and mother-in-law to Sue. Beloved sister of Robert Michels, and cousins Suzanne Michels and Veronica Blugerman. Muriel was a strong and determined woman whose life experience gave her the courage and endurance to fight her illness up until her last days.
Muriel will be missed for her kindness and compassion. Always one to engage others in conversation, Muriel could frequently be found offering advice and words of encouragement to shoppers at Trader Joe’s and the Dollar Tree.
One of Muriel’s greatest joys in life, was caring for and teaching children. She worked with great pride, as a childcare assistant at Harley Care in East Northport, until her retirement at age 85.
Memorial visiting and a prayer service will be held on Thursday, June 10th, 2021, from 1:30PM to 4:00PM and from 6:30PM to 9:00PM, at the Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY 11729.
