Peter H. Hendricks, a dedicated gardener for the City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation, passed away on January 20, 2025, at his residence. Born on February 25, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, he lived a life defined by his unwavering commitment to family, service, and his community.

Peter proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean War, exemplifying the spirit of dedication that would characterize his life. Following his military service, he embarked on a career as a gardener with the City of New York, where he contributed to the beautification and maintenance of the city parks, leaving a lasting impact on the urban landscape he cherished.

A loving family man, Peter held his wife, Anna Hendricks, and their children close to his heart. He is remembered for his pride in providing for his family and the love that he showed to them. His legacy continues through his children, Cathy (Tom) Fabian, Michael Hendricks, and Jim Avery Hendricks. Peter was also a proud grandfather to Thomas Peter Fabian, Michael Peter Hendricks, Caitlin Ann Fabian, Taylor Anne Hendricks, Daniel Peter Hendricks, Terence Avery, and Richard Avery. He cherished the joy of great-grandchildren, including Niko, Alana, and Michael. He is also survived by his sibling Anthony.

Peter's life was not only about work and family; he also enjoyed leisure time shooting pool, a pastime that brought him joy and a sense of camaraderie. He was known for his warmth, approachability, and profound pride in his family.

Peter is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna Hendricks, as well as his son, Peter Hendricks, and daughter-in-law, Darlene Hendricks. He is also preceded in death by his beloved siblings: Walter Jr., Winifred (known as Helen), Michael, Catherine, Daniel, Ruth, Mary, Lucille.

Visitation for Peter H. Hendricks will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and resuming later that evening from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, at the Mangano Family Funeral Home in Deer Park, New York. A Mass in his memory will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 10:15 AM at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, followed by burial at Saint Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale, New York.

Peter H. Hendricks leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and commitment that will be remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
