Peter G. Oliva

Peter G. Oliva, a dedicated sanitation worker for NYC Sanitation and beloved father, passed away on April 16, 2025, in Medford, New York, at the age of 80. Born on April 4, 1945, in Queens, New York, Peter exemplified a strong work ethic and commitment to service throughout his life.

Peter proudly served his country in the Army from 1965 to 1967, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of duty. After completing his military service, he returned to civilian life, where he devoted himself to his career with the NYC Sanitation Department. His years of service were marked by a steadfast dedication to his work and the community he served, earning him respect and admiration from his colleagues and the residents of the city.

In his personal life, Peter cherished his role as a father. He is survived by his son, Peter, who carries forward his father’s legacy of compassion and hard work.  Peter was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Dorothy Oliva, who instilled in him the values of integrity and community service that he held dear throughout his life. Their influence shaped the man he became and the loving father he strived to be.
