Richard P. Del Monico, a cherished soul and pillar of his family, took his final bow on January 25, 2025, just two days shy of his 87th birthday. Born on January 27, 1938, in the vibrant neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, Richard’s journey through life was as remarkable as it was inspiring.
For over 25 years, Richard thrived as a business owner, embracing each challenge with a spirit of determination and an infectious enthusiasm that left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. His professional accomplishments were a mere reflection of his intrinsic qualities: integrity, hard work, and a commitment to putting family first above all else.
Richard was a loving father, a title he wore with pride, guiding and nurturing his sons, Paul and Richard, with wisdom and care. His love extended with fierce affection to his beloved wife, Mary (née DiBlasi), with whom he shared a beautiful bond for 62 years. Together, they created a life filled with warmth and laughter, each day accentuated by the sparkling presence of their granddaughters, Daria and Megan, who brought him immeasurable joy.
The vibrant tapestry of Richard's life was woven not only with family, but also through the relationships he fostered with his brothers, Tommy and Bill, and his sister, Johanne. These bonds highlighted his outgoing personality, as he revelled in connections that transcended the everyday, celebrating both the monumental moments and the simpler joys with equal passion.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Richard found solace and excitement in the world of computers, an interest that illuminated his inquisitive nature and underscored his unwavering commitment to learning and growth.
Richard’s legacy, rich in love and dedication, will be honored during several visitations at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home on January 30, 2025, both in the afternoon and evening, followed by a mass at Our Lady of Grace R. C. Church on January 31. He will find his eternal rest at Saint Charles Cemetery later that day, surrounded by the love of those who cherished him deeply.
As Richard embarks on this final journey, his family and friends will carry him in their hearts, honoring a life marked by love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those he held most dear. Though he has departed from this earth, his spirit will forever illuminate the lives of all who had the privilege to know him.
