Rita Sgroi

October 23, 1938 — March 9, 2025

Deer Park, NY

Rita Sgroi, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, peacefully departed this world on March 9, 2025, in Deer Park, NY, at the age of 86. Born on October 23, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY, Rita carried the warmth of her roots into every aspect of her life, enveloping those around her with an unparalleled love.

Rita was a devoted family woman, whose greatest pride and joy stemmed from her children: Linda Scurto, Mia, Ernie, and Michele Rios. She poured her heart into nurturing them, instilling values of kindness, resilience, and strength. These values blossomed within her children and created a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

Her role as a grandmother brought her immense happiness. Rita's grandchildren—Salvatore, Anthony, Joseph, Nicholas, Joseph, and Makayla—were the apples of her eye, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her laughter filled family gatherings, and her bedtime stories ignited youthful imaginations, serving as a reminder of the importance of family bonds and creating lasting memories.

Rita's heart belonged not only to her immediate family but extended to her dear brother, Vincent Stasi. Together they shared stories and memories that would resonate long into the future, providing each other with endless support and love.

Though Rita's cherished husband, Antonio, has passed away, his memory lives on in the love that Rita shared for him throughout their life together. She grieved alongside her siblings, Joseph Stasi and Grace Bisconti, who also preceded her in death, reminding us that while she has left this world, the love shared among them will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who adored her.

Family and friends are invited to honor Rita’s beautiful life at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, where visitation will be held on March 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Mass celebrating her life will take place the following day at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, beginning at 10:15 AM, followed by her Entombment at Holy Rood Cemetery at noon.

Rita Sgroi’s spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be forever remembered for her boundless love, nurturing nature, and unwavering strength. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly through her family and the memories that they carry in their hearts. Rest in peace, dear Rita. Your love will never be forgotten.
