Robert W. Lockwood, a Korean War veteran and beloved member of the community, passed away on August 15, 2023, at the age of 89. He was born on February 16, 1934, in Flushing, New York to Harold and Christine Lockwood.
Robert's dedication to education led him to earn a Highschool Diploma, which provided a strong foundation for his future endeavors. However, it was his admirable service in the Korean War that truly demonstrated his courage and commitment to his country.
Outside of his military service, Robert was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving children: Robert Lockwood, Harold Lockwood, Johanna Amantia, and Anthony Lockwood. His legacy also lives on through his 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren who will forever cherish the memories they shared with their beloved patriarch.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects for a visitation scheduled at Deer Park- Mangano Family Funeral Home on August 20, 2023. The first visitation will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and the second one from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. It is during these gatherings that we can come together as a community to honor the remarkable life of Robert W. Lockwood. A funeral mass will be held on August 21, 2023, at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church in Deer Park starting at 9:15 AM.
Robert W. Lockwood will be remembered as a devoted family man, a resilient war veteran, and a pillar of kindness in his community. His legacy will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory forever be a blessing to us all.
