Robert D. O'Connor

April 21, 1950 — November 4, 2023

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Robert D. O'Connor, also known as Bob, on November 4, 2023, in Deer Park. Born on April 21, 1950, in Queens, Bob lived a remarkable life filled with love, adventure, and hard work.

Bob was a loving man who cherished his family above all else. He was a great husband to his wife Angela (Oreste), and together they created a home filled with warmth and happiness. Bob's dedication as a father was unwavering, and he provided immense love and support to his children: Robert D. Jr., Kelley Iovine (husband Tom), and James D. (wife Elizabeth). His role as a father extended beyond mere provision; he nurtured their dreams, celebrated their achievements, and offered guidance when needed.

As a provider for the family, Bob worked tirelessly to ensure their comfort and well-being. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Whether it was fixing cars or motorcycles, which he loved dearly, or taking care of household tasks, Bob approached every challenge with enthusiasm and determination.

Bob had an adventurous spirit that drew him to the outdoors. He found solace in the tranquility of nature and enjoyed spending time away in the Poconos and in fishing. These moments allowed him to unwind from the demands of everyday life and appreciate the simple joys that surrounded him.

The funeral services for Bob will take place at Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Pk Ave in Deer Park, NY. There will be two visitation events held on November 7th; the first will begin at 2:00 PM until 4:30 PM, followed by another visitation event from 7:00 PM until 9:30 PM. A prayer service will be held on November 8th at the same location at 11:30 AM with the burial taking place at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, NY, at 12:30 PM.

Bob's memory will forever be cherished by his sister Elaine Ross and her husband Lowell. He was not only a brother to them but also a dear friend who brought laughter and love into their lives. Additionally, Bob leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Thomas, Madeline, Merrick, and Vincent. Their lives were enriched by his presence, and they will carry his legacy forward with pride and love.

In celebrating Bob's life, let us remember the joy he brought to those around him. He was the life of every party, unafraid to take risks and live life to the fullest.  His larger-than-life personality would light up any room. Bob's genuine kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand made him a beloved figure in the community.

Rest in peace, dear Bob. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
