Scalza, Stephen of West Islip, NY died at the age of 42 on October 1, 2014. He was born in Queens, NY on May 9, 1972 to Patrick and Mary. He married his beautiful wife, Denise on August 6, 1999 and had two children, Ryan and Emma. Stephen retired from the NYPD in 2012 after 20 years of exemplary service. His last assignment was as the sergeant of the asset forfeiture unit. He continued his law enforcement career as the SAR Coordinator with HIDTA. In his personal life Stephen touched the lives of many as a coach, mentor and friend. He is survived by his wife, Denise & Father, Patrick & Stepmother; children Ryan and Emma; brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and many loving family members. Stephen will be missed by all. Reposing at Mangano Funeral Home, Inc. 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park Wednesday and Thursday 2-4:30pm & 7-9:30pm. Funeral Mass Friday 11am Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, West Islip.
