Susan Semetsis

Susan Semetsis, a beloved wife to Thomas and mother to Kristine (Justin Kopcik), Laurie (Michael Abrahamian), and Rachel, passed away on September 28, 2023, at the age of 62. She was born on May 4, 1961, in the Bronx, New York to loving parents Rocco and Rose Castoro.

She grew up in a warm and nurturing home, which instilled in her the values of love, compassion, and a deep appreciation for family bonds. She also leaves behind her loving sisters Catherine Caroleo (Paul) and Maria Castoro, as well as many nieces and nephews with whom she shared countless memories.

Susan was a caring and loving individual who will be remembered for her selflessness and adoration for her family. She cherished her family above all else, finding immense joy in every moment spent with them. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her own family as she radiated warmth and kindness to everyone around her. Previously serving as a Girl Scout leader and kindergarten teacher aide, Susan made a difference in the lives of many.

Being diagnosed with ovarian cancer almost two years ago, Susan was brave and fought to spend as much time as possible with her beloved family and friends. Susan and her family are very thankful for the many extraordinary caregivers that supported her throughout this difficult time.  

To honor Susan's life and memory, visitation services will be held at the Mangano Family Funeral Home located in Deer Park, NY on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. The first visitation session will take place from 2:00pm to 4:30pm, followed by the second session from 7:00pm to 9:30pm. On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, a Mass will be held at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church at 11:15am, immediately followed by a procession to Susan’s final resting place at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

During this time of grief, let us remember Susan for her unconditional love, empathy, and dedication to those she held dear. She will forever be missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
