Theresa McDonly, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter to Alicia Reid and John Nakovics, passed away on January 3, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on June 29, 1944, Theresa's life was a testament to love, resilience, and kindness.
Theresa is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen McDonly, who stood by her side through all of life’s seasons. Together, they filled their home with warmth and laughter, creating unforgettable memories. She was the loving mother of Denise Weber (Christoph) and Robert Ostrowe (Elizabeth), who carry forward her values and spirit, raising their own families with the same love she exemplified.
As a grandmother, Theresa took great pride in her grandchildren Anna, Nicholas, Joseph, Theresa was predeceased by her grandson Joseph Heck, but he was in her heart every day. She nurtured them with her wisdom and affection, always encouraging their dreams and celebrating their achievements. Her memory will continue to live on through their stories and the love they felt from her.
Theresa was also a beloved sister to her siblings, Ronald Nakovics (Dotty), Vincent Nakovics (Bianca), and Lorraine D'Angelo. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers Raymond, Phillip and John Nakovics as well as her sister Joan Mancini. The bonds of family were deeply important to her, providing her with strength and happiness throughout her life.
Her legacy is one of compassion and support, especially during difficult times. Theresa's family will forever cherish the memories of her kindness and the nurturing spirit she brought into their lives.
Visitation will be held on January 6, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home located at 406 E Main St, Riverhead, NY. A prayer service will take place during the evening from 8:00 PM to 8:15 PM. Theresa will then be laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery on January 7, 2025, at 11:30 AM.
