Thomas Theodore Boody

Sgt. Maj. Thomas Theodore Boody, a beloved figure in his community, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on May 14, 1933, in New York, NY to his parents Paul and Margaret. He was a kind and caring individual who devoted his life to his family and those around him.

Thomas served his country honorably as a Sergeant Major in the Army, exemplifying the dedication and leadership that defined his character and became a Purple Heart recipient. His commitment to service did not end with military career; he continued to uplift and inspire others throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving family, including his daughters, Margaret and her husband Royce Fischer, and Catherine and her husband Michael Henery. He also leaves behind his sons, Thomas T. Boody Jr. and his wife Donna, Kevin P. Boody and his wife Janice, and Dennis M. Boody and his wife Eileen. Thomas was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a devoted great-grandfather to 5 great-grandchildren, with another on the way, all of whom were cherished deeply.

Visitation services will be held at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY 11729, on December 8, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, and again on December 9, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A Mass to honor Thomas’s life will take place on December 10, 2024, at 10:15 AM at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, located at 125 Half Hollow Rd., Deer Park, NY 11729. A burial will follow immediately after at Calverton National Cemetery.

Thomas Theodore Boody’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on through his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the warmth he brought into the lives of everyone around him.
