Thomas J. Lowder

Thomas J. Lowder, a dedicated and retired member of the New City Police Department, passed away on October 13, 2023 at 88 years old. He was surrounded by his loving family until the end. Thomas was born on August 2, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, and was the son of the late John and the late Agnes Lowder.

Thomas had a remarkable career serving the community as a member of the NYC Police Department. His commitment and passion for law enforcement earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and superiors.

Outside of his distinguished career, Thomas cherished spending time with his family. He was a loving husband to Angela Lowder (Nee: Sgambati) and a devoted father to Linda (Paul) Kohl, Thomas (Joyce) Lowder, Karen (John) Abruzzo, and the late John Lowder. Their bond was unbreakable, and his unwavering love was a constant source of support for them. Thomas had immense pride in his six beloved grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. They brought him endless joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

In addition to being survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Thomas leaves behind cherished memories for those who knew him well. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The services to honor Thomas's life will take place at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Pk Ave in Deer Park, NY. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM; Wednesday, October 18 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM; and Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

A Mass celebrating Thomas's life will be held on Thursday, October 19th at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church located at 125 Half Hollow Rd, Deer Park, NY. The service will commence at 11:15 AM.

Thomas J. Lowder was a loving husband, devoted father, and respected member of the community. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
