Umbertina Martinelli

Our earthly “Angel without wings” has now received her well-deserved Wings…

Umbertina Martinelli of North Babylon, passed away on January 3, 2022 at the age of 92.

Beloved wife to the late Francesco Martinelli. Cherished mother to Rosemarie (Tom) Franciscovich, Beatrice (James) Oliva and Franca (Darren Kakos) Martinelli. Adored Grandmother to Jimmy (Carly) Oliva, Brittany (Chris) Oliva and Emily Franciscovich.
Born October 27, 1929 in Melito, Italy, she grew up in an orphanage. Mom would tell us she was the “preferred one” due to the fact that she was the only child there with no parents. Being the “preferred one”, she was asked many times to accompany Mother Superior to make speeches at masses or at different religious events.
Despite not having a Mom or Dad as role models, she was the most amazing, wonderful mother. She was known in the family as “an Angel without wings”, due to her kind heart, selfless love and generous nature (always cooking and giving care packages to family/friends that were sick).
Throughout her life, everyone and anyone who met her (even for 5 minutes), immediately wanted to adopt her and take her home. She touched so many lives and was known for her big warm smile and was loved by everyone. She will be missed by so many people and will never be forgotten!
